Le Dr. Alaaddin Yilmaz (né en 1970 à Emirdag, Turquie) a étudié la médecine à la Rijksuniversiteit Gent, où il obtient son doctorat en médecine, chirurgie et obstétrique en 1996. Il débute sa formation en chirurgie générale au Jozef Ziekenhuis et au Maria Middelares Ziekenhuis de Gand. Il complète ensuite sa formation au St-Antonius Ziekenhuis Nieuwege, aux Pays-Bas, sous la direction du Pr van Swieten.

Le Dr. Yilmaz est un chirurgien reconnu dont la chirurgie cardiothoracique constitue la sous-spécialité depuis 2002. 
Le Pr Yilmaz a développé une série de techniques mini-invasives et est un spécialiste internationalement renommé de chirurgie cardiothoracique mini-invasive. Plusieurs de ses interventions ont déjà été enregistrées et/ou diffusées en temps réel, en vue de partager des connaissances avec ses collègues.
Ses domaines d'expertise incluent notamment les interventions MAZE et VATS, les lobectomies VATS et les thymectomies VATS.
